His Eye is on the Sparrow

The Lord is very merciful to hear our cries over what I would think are “insignificant” issues. Now what happened? For some reason, the church house where my study resides has a tendency to encouragingly invite sparrows into the house. Where? Not sure unless it is a remote dryer vent in the office. The chimney has a cap. We have had 3-4 birds this winter season.

I was sitting in my study doing administrative details and lo, a bird comes fluttering by by head in panic. Now a panicked sparrow is not a nice bird as it tends to have loose bowel syndrome. I opened the door to invite the bird out but, the bird prefers a heated environment to the outdoors in spite of its fretfulness. So the bird went everywhere except outside.

Reasoning with birds does not function well. I paused and asked the Lord to graciously turn the bird’s nature to go outside. Immediately after praying, the scared bird flew straight out of the main auditorium area, directly and in a straight line out the door.

The Lord is gracious to hear “insignificant” issues. I think the Lord heard the sparrow groans and my prayer. So I confess His merciful hearing and glorify Christ with thanksgiving. I trust that the bird also lifted up songs of praise.
